Cecilia Jonsson works conceptually and moves freely within media installation, sculpture, sound, video and performance art, incorporating elements of microscopy, archiving and electronic motorization. Her art resides in the borderland between fiction and science, where she particularly explores the intersection between organic and dead matter.
Cecilia Jonsson’s many works take shape through collecting information, and for her the documentation itself is an essential element. Through her work she tries to show created memories of the meaningful and mystical surrounding the real. She questions the assumption of economic sustainability through artworks that refer to the environment, social culture, magical realism and contemporary alchemy.
